Opt Out

getting in isn't the hard part. it's letting go.
Almost everything you use is tracking you: the apps on your phone, the sites you visit, the stores you shop at, and the data brokers who buy it all and sell a profile of you to whoever pays. Opt Out is a toolkit for taking your privacy back. Start with your data, then go as far as you like, because the categories below also cover depending less on the companies that profit from you. Take what applies and skip the rest. Nothing here needs technical skill, most of it is free, and anything paid says so.
New to this? Start here.
Every named node links to that company's actual privacy control or opt-out form, not a generic homepage. Zone 3 has no consumer opt-out to link to, and says so honestly rather than fake one.
Zone 1 · Aggregators & Data Brokers
Wholesale compilers: they buy records from hundreds of smaller sources, merge them into a household profile, then resell that profile to anyone who pays: insurers, lenders, marketers, ICE contractors.
OPT-OUT ACTIONSClick each node above or work the full checklist: 20–30 min per site, re-checked every few months. Or pay a service to do it continuously (compare them).
Zone 3 · Enterprise & Analytics No consumer opt-out
Palantir and Oracle don't sell you anything. They sell governments and corporations the software that acts on data from every other zone here: ICE case management, predictive policing, ad targeting infrastructure.
GOVT/CORP CLIENT DATAWhy no link: you aren't their customer, governments and corporations are. The dossiers linked above are the only leverage available, knowing exactly what these systems do and who profits from them.
Zone 2 · Ad Platforms (Walled Gardens)
Google and Meta don't sell your data directly. They sell access to it, running the auction themselves so the data never has to leave their walls. That's the "walled garden": you can't opt out of a broker you never see.
→ Ad Auction → Targeting Profiles built from every product above
COUNTER-STRATEGYMeta retired its off-platform opt-out in July 2026, the replacement limits how that data is used, not whether it's collected. Turn off ad personalization on both platforms, minimize on-platform actions, and run an anti-tracking browser extension.
Zone 4 · AI & Model Training
The newest zone: your prompts, and in some cases public content scraped from the open web, become training data for the next model version unless you explicitly turn it off.
Public Web Scraping + User Prompt Logs → Model Parameter Training
COUNTER-STRATEGYTurn off "Improve the model for everyone" (OpenAI) and Gemini Apps Activity (Google) in settings, not just once but after any account reset. Anthropic doesn't train on conversations by default, so there's nothing to disable there.
