What this tool does. Boycott Book lists companies, organisations and public figures in groups ("syndicates") based on shared ownership, funding or documented affiliation. Each group shows its listed members, alternatives that serve a similar purpose, and public campaigns run by other organisations. The tool is a directory: it links to options and does not ask anyone to take a particular action.
Consumer boycotts and the law. In NAACP v. Claiborne Hardware Co., 458 U.S. 886 (1982), the US Supreme Court held that a nonviolent, politically motivated consumer boycott is protected by the First Amendment. This page lists alternatives and campaigns; the choice of where to spend money rests with each reader.
How entries are compiled. Groupings and member details are drawn from public records: company filings, court and regulatory records, labour board decisions and reporting by established news organisations. Capital figures are the reported figure for each member (market capitalisation, assets under management, revenue or net worth, as labelled in the entry); the card total adds those figures together and is not a like-for-like measure. A listing describes ownership or affiliation and is not a finding of wrongdoing. Company practices change, and entries can fall out of date.
Alternatives and campaigns. Alternatives are products, services or organisations that serve a similar purpose. Campaigns are run by independent organisations, not by The Path Forward; only campaigns with a public website are shown.
Company and brand names are used descriptively. Names and trademarks identify the entity being discussed, consistent with nominative fair use, and do not imply affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement.
Not investment or financial advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or avoid any security.
