About this tool. A directory of ways to depend less on systems that treat you as a resource, the data broker selling your address to ICE contractors, the bank lending your deposits somewhere you'd object to if you were asked, the agricultural chain that patents the seed, the landlord market you hold no stake in, the attention economy engineered to keep you anxious and buying. Corporate surveillance is one thread of that, not the whole of it.
How it's organised. Seven kinds of exit, because there are seven kinds of dependency. Infrastructural, power, water, tools and shelter you can build or repair without a supply chain. Physiological, food and seed outside the corporate agricultural machine. Digital, software and devices that don't bill you in behaviour. Community: co-ops, land trusts and shared ownership in place of extraction by landlord or platform. Literal: leaving a place, or a country. Mental, the consumption and status treadmill that funds all of the above. Administrative, brokers, banks, credit files and the paperwork layer, where most of the fast wins are.
What this isn't. Not a purity test, and not a demand that you go off-grid. Nobody exits everything, most people can't exit most of it, and these systems are built so that leaving costs time and money, which falls hardest on whoever has least of both. Take the cheap wins, skip what doesn't fit your life, and ignore anyone, this page included, who implies that partial withdrawal is worthless. A credit freeze and a different bank is a real outcome. It doesn't have to become a lifestyle.
Standards. Every resource listed is one we've confirmed is real, currently operating, and actually does what it claims, not a scraped directory of dead links. Where a company's practice is named, it comes from that company's own published policy, a regulatory filing or court document, or documented public reporting, never speculation. Where something is contested or has no good answer, the page says so rather than inventing one: Zone 3 of the map has no consumer opt-out to link to, and says exactly that.
What this page counts. It would be strange to tell you to block trackers without saying what this one does. The site runs GoatCounter, a cookieless counter that records a page view, the rough country, and the browser. No cookies, no IP storage, no profile, nothing that identifies you and nothing shared with anyone. If your browser sends Do Not Track it does not load at all, and any blocker stops it with no effect on the page.
